Cséfalvay András

7/1 Text

András Cséfalvay – What are you working on this week?

Over the coming weeks, I have several exhibitions opening or currently in progress, which will keep me busy all the summer. Kamiokande – The Queen of the Night is, perhaps, best described as simultaneously a neutrino detector, a Mozart opera, and an oracle fountain foretelling the extinction. It will be installed at the Pohoda Festival and, later this month, in the Jesuit Garden in Brno. The work consists of a 7 m dome clad in gold foil, so it involves quite a few logistical challenges.

At the same time, together with curator Edith Lázár, I am planning the guided tours and accompanying programme for my solo exhibition at the synagogue space of the Ján Koniarek Gallery in Trnava. A Marriage of Flame and Flame brings together a number of new works exploring computation and the end of the world, while suggesting that, fortunately, hope still persists somewhere within it all.
